Long time, no post.
Found a friend i went to school with in sixth grade by searching for him on Google this week. We were the kids who drew pictures from anime and comics long before anyone knew what anime was, and before comics were cool. Pretty freaky to find him. This internet thing is useful, after all.
I got some more cool stuff from the library: Another Akira Kurosawa/Toshiro Mifune movie, "Akahige (Red Beard)", a documentary about Kurosawa, and a book about Kurosawa and Mifune. Yes, i'm obsessed. I also got some manga.
I got some cheap sci-fi/giant robot anime DVDs that packratshow told me about. I've only watched one so far, but man.... These things seem to be cobbled together from a bunch of scrap film. An hour and fifteen minutes of repeating footage, characters that come out of nowhere, say five lines, and disappear forever, and no plot, with a moral stuffed in at the last minute (literally). They also rip off Transformers (the robots are even *called* Transformers) and Tron, among other things. Great, terrible stuff. It's quotable, too. I'm already saying "Shut up, will ya?! And put your shoe back on. You're stinking up the General Assembly!" every chance i get. Great stuff.
Nine Inch Nails is apparently on TV tonight, on that hurricane charity concert thing. I'm taping it, because i don't want to watch TV and a bunch of bands i don't care about for three hours to see Trent play like one song. Plus, Naruto makes its American debut tonight, and i'm watching that.
(EDIT 091120050146am: Whoa, Trent has no hair, and a tan. And he's wearing a suit.
And he played a new song.)
Neil Gaiman's "MirrorMask" is playing in St. Louis at the end of the month. I have to go see that.
My LiveJournal paid time expires tomorrow or Monday. I wonder what icons i'll be left with. Last plea for donated pay time: Anyone? Hello? Hey, come back here.
Anyway, Naruto is about to come on, so i'm off to watch it.....

Mmm, self-aware Google...
