This is so awesome.

From pinktentacle.com:

Relying on 3D tracking technology developed at the Ishikawa-Komuro Laboratory in 2003, scoreLight uses lasers to trace the outline of a drawing or object. As the laser dances along the contours, scoreLight produces and modulates sound according to the curvature, angle, texture, color, and contrast. An abrupt change in the direction of a line generates a discrete sound (a glitch or percussion sound), resulting in a steady rhythm when the laser follows a looped path (the size and shape of the looped path determines the tempo and structure of the beat). The device creates a layered tapestry of sound when multiple laser points explore different parts of a drawing.

I haven't really updated much in quite a while. I don't know why. I guess it's half apathy, half being busy, and half knowing no one wants to read what i do every day. 1/2 + 1/2 + 1/2 = one big ball of nonposting. (And i've stopped caring that i hate the whole idea of it, but i've been posting my more mundane crap on Facebook. I'm "Fifth Dream" over there if any of you care to add me.) Anyway, i've decided to babble a bit and get a lot of mundane stuff posted all at once.

I've been playing lots of games. in addition to the five or so PS2 games i got in October (which i've barely played so far), i have a bunch of PC games taking up my time. As soon as i got Borderlands, i got Dragon Age: Origins, and have been pretty obsessive with it ever since. It's pretty much all i do in my spare time. I also bought Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic for $2.50 the day after Thanksgiving. I'd never played it before, and always heard it was good, so i figured, for $2.50, why not get it? I've played it all of fifteen minutes so far. And i almost forgot i was playing S.T.A.L.K.E.R. ...some time in the past, and stopped when i got the 837384663 other games.

I've been addicted to eating Malt-o-Meal with cocoa and peanut butter in it. I've had it like two meals a day all week. I crave it all day until i have it. It's crazy. Crazy good.... Oh, i'm clever.

I was looking forward to winter. I always do. But this year...i dunno. I'm worried about so much stuff, and for some reason, i've been really cold (i used to love cold, now, not so much), and it just has been kinda... meh. Christmas would be nice if everyoneintheworld wasn't so poor right now, especially me, cuz i'd like to buy people stuff, but probably can't.

Ever do something little, but it like totally improves some part of your life? Yeah, me either really, but a while back i decided to buy a little am/fm radio with an Amazon gift card i got (from VH1 o.O), you know, just to listen to in the bathroom while i shower. I'd realized how boring that twenty minutes being in there with only the sound of water and my own annoying thoughts was, and thought a radio would help. And it did. But then i did something brilliant. For literally less than $1.50, i bought a little battery-powered fm transmitter that plugs into headphone jacks. And for another $1.50, i bought four (more) rechargable AAA batteries for it. So now i am able to plug the fm transmitter into my mp3 player, or my pc, so i can listen to all my music, or even the tv, while i'm in the shower, for about $15. Well, $3, really, considering the radio was bought with a gift card. And considering how much less of a chore it is to be confined in the bathroom, it was totally worth it. Seriously. So much less boring.

That VH1 thing reminds me: i'm on an advisory panel giving my opinion on show pilots and such for the station. Can't say a lot about it, but it's fun. Also, the senior editor of WoW.com does their podcast every week, and he's been opping me in the chat room during the recording of the podcast. It's kind of cool. I feel like a noob in WoW itself, but at least i get to do something in the community. It's fun. So i've been doing those things...

And quick lists of things i've been listening to/watching/reading.

Stuff i've been listening to a lot lately: Action Action, Avengers In Sci-Fi, Bespa Kumamero, goth Christmas albums and covers compilations.

Stuff i've been watching: Heroes, V (which is probably cancelled already), Mythbusters, FlashForward and catching up with Lost (with the woman), and Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit.

I've been reading the book "Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit" that the anime is based off of.

And... that's probably it. Not much interesting, but i've posted all the little things i've kind of felt like posting for a while, and now i have an excuse to not post anything of substance again for another while.

Just testing this LJ/FB thing. If it works, well, no more having to double post for me. <3

Have some Action Action ("Let's Never Go To Sleep"). You need it.

I love Action Action. Thanks to Darla for introducing me to them a few years ago. <3

After years of going ignored, i updated my website: http://www.fifthdreamtoday.com.

It's mostly a design update, but there are a few new things here and there. Hopefully now that i like how it looks, i'll work on it now and then.

Here's what it looks like, now:

W.     T.     F?     Seriously, WTF? Go look at some of this guy's other videos. What made anyone in the world think this guy should be teaching anyone to draw anything? I'm not even getting into the "Asian women" thing. "Artist extraordinaire"? Yeah, bullsh*t artist.....

Heart.

I learned this morning that Toshiro Mifune was being considered (and even read) for the part of Mr. Miyagi in "The Karate Kid". I love Pat Morita in the role, but god, i would have loved to see the awesome Miyagi-sensei Mifune would have been.

Hearing my last name said out loud three times, in reference to three different people, on tv - once in an anime - in just a few hours is a bit odd. I hardly ever hear my name anywhere, especially on tv. It may be years between times hearing it on tv. I've heard it 3 times since 10pm tonight. Weird.

Yummy. :D

Mmm, dark, rainy autumn evenings... Probably my favorite weather next to buttloads of snow.

Cool.

But we already knew that.

I have to admit, i'm kind of impressed with the new Genius Mixes on iTunes. It's made a pop mix for me that plays all 80's stuff, a lot of the Cure, Adam Ant, David Bowie, Siouxsie, Tears For Fears, Duran Duran... stuff i love. It's like a radio station that can only play songs i know i like, with no annoying DJs. Pretty win.

See?

Seg-What?

Japanese technology makes the Segway look like a stone-aged piece of crap. Watch this video and make the O.O face. Because you will.

Awesome.

"G.I. Joe" is another case of Hollywood's unquenchable thirst for Changing Things For No Reason At All. I don't know wy they do it. I assume it's to make things they think "regular people" (i.e. people who don't know the source material) will think are hokey not so hokey. G.I. Joe was like, the ONE thing that didn't need changed. Pretty much every character in G.I. Joe is wearing plain old military gear, or even street clothes. If Star Wars and Star Trek are well-loved, and not hokey, then G.I. Joe most certainly wouldn't be hokey. BUT i *expected* this movie to be full of visual changes. The commercials make it obvious. I accept that nothing can be left alone in Hollywood, and all heroes must wear black plastic clothing.

But why the hell did they SPOILER )
