Random stuff:

I got a couple of DVDs from the library: Alien Vs. Predator and Speed Racer Collector's Edition Volume 1. Alien Vs. Predator i saw in a theater, but my sister made me want to see it again. Speed Racer was the second anime i ever watched as a kid (after Battle of the Planets). Yes, it's old school, and pretty crappy, but it counts as anime. Its influence helped to twist and warp me into the thing you see before me today, so it's important to me. Plus the Mach 5 is still the coolest car ever invented. I really had to get the Speed Racer DVD(s, the second one is on hold) from the library, though, because Darla kept singing the damn Speed Racer song over and over and it just planted the seed.

Speaking of movies, i watched Nana. Good movie, if only to be able to look at Mika Nakashima for two hours. (Click and click.) I'm considering going to see "V For Vendetta" sometime, too.

And speaking of anime, two of my favorite series, Samurai Champloo, and FullMetal Alchemist have now ended, and Ghost In The Shell: Stand Aloine Complex, 2nd Gig is ending soon. After that, there is no anime i watch regularly still on tv (unless you count Pokemon and Naruto, and i don't). It's going to be weird to not have really good anime that i look forward to watching on TV regularly, unless something new is coming on soon. I guess i'll get to watching the rest of Fruits Basket and Chobits.

I sent a package today, and i kinda feel like cleaning off the bookshelf in a bit. If i get that done, too, i'll feel like maybe i sort of accomplished something today.

I woke up with Utada Hikaru's "Traveling" stuck in my head, so i'm listening to that on repeat, and i'm going to listen to Japundit's 14th Podcast after i post this.

Pearl pasta makes me oddly happy, especially if it shares a bowl with croutons.

Still need to watch: Mirrormask, Casshern, the end of Dodes'ka-den, the Castle of Cagliostro, the rest of Chobits, the rest of Fruits Basket, and i'll probably try to get around to seeing Oldboy.

I got my contest drawing done and turned in, the book i was reading was due so i had to send it back, and a couple of those movies aren't due for a week, so there's nothing of the reading/watching/hobbying sort that i have to do at the moment, which is nice, but when i allow myself to do nothing, i realize that i quickly start thinking too much. Anyway, now that i'm not pressed for time, i might get some stuff watched.

...And Drill Dozer for the GameBoy Advance is pretty fun, and very cute.

Ketchup.

Belated 10-second movie reviews:

Aeon Flux: Better than expected. Needed a little more strangeness that was a signature of the animated series. Explained almost all of the mysteries from the series, which made me happy. BONUS: Points for live-action recreation of Aeon's dual-level boobs. If you watched the series, you know what i mean.

Sin City: Jesus, this movie made me cringe. Not because it sucked, but because the violence actually creeped me out, unlike most violence in movies. Actually, it was just really creepy in general. Loved how it looked like a comic and it actually worked, instead of failing miserably like it easily could have. Great movie. Frank Miller needs to make the next Batman movie, just like this. BONUS: Rosario Dawson. Rawwwr.

Lost In Translation: Such a great movie. Makes me want to move to Japan even more, now. I like the non-typical, non-defined nature of their relationship. BONUS: Japanese arcade + pachinko = <3

Yesterday my game rentals came in the mail (Soul Calibur III and Rumble Roses), so i've been playing the crap out of them. Well, not so much Rumble Roses... It's every bit as cheesy as it looked like it would be, but it's fun for a few minutes at a time, and will probably be a bit better with two plauers. It's weird Japanese-ness, though, and that's always good. Soul Calibur III will suck all my time up until i have to send it back. Devious bastards and their crack-addictive unlockables... My created characters are the best ever. Maybe i'll take some grainy webcam screenshots of them later.

Speaking wasting a bunch of time... My sister got me a huge pile of one-dollar kung fu DVDs today. Eleven of them, with two movies a piece on each one, each movie averaging 90 minutes a piece... That's 33 hours of movies for $11. Some of the movies look pretty amusing, some look so bad they'll be good, and some just look bad - there are also a couple of Bruce Lee documentaries. But there seem to be a few gems in there, and i love me some cheesy kung fu movies, so these are great to have.

My sister also brought me like ten pounds of Halloween candy. Lollipops, choclate-y things, hard candy, more lollipops, some tootsie roll-like things (half chocolate-half fruit), candy corn, and even more lollipops... plus a buch of other odds and ends. That's my candy supply for the year. (I always have a lot of candy around, but i hardly eat it: i've still got a few pounds sitting around that probably too old to eat now. So, yeah, this will last a while.) She also got me a string of big black light bulbs. My sister rocks.

ALSO: Library-ness... "Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome", completing the trilogy; "Kwaidan", a movie of traditional Japanese ghost stories; and "Grave of the Fireflies", the anime about orphaned kids who survived World War II. I've been wanting to see it, but just finally got a hold of it. How often do i have to say that my library owns? It totally does.

So, all that on top of Neil Gaiman's "Anansi Boys", which i'm about half way through (and all my sister's anime i have't watched yet), gives me lots of fun stuff to do for quite a wile. Nice.

EDIT: They're going to stop making Vanilla Coke. That's just disappointing.
