I watched "Queen of the Damned" tonight, since it was on HBO. I'd wanted to see how bad it was (i mean, it's Anne Rice, i couldn't expect much from it), and to see how Aaliyah was in it (Egyptian vampires = cool). Wow. This was one of the most pathetic, lame ass movies i've ever seen. The actor who played The Cro... I mean, Lestat, is not a good actor. Most of the special effects were cheesey (except the Akasha statue scene, and the burning vampire special effects). The guy from Korn sounded like he was making fun of Marilyn Manson in all of the songs. At least there was some cool violin music in it, and my favorite Deftones song played during the "love scene", which was weird. And Claudia Black from FarScape was in it? Odd.
The only thing that made sitting though all one hour and fourty minutes of this thing was Aaliyah. I mean, it's weird noticing this now that she's gone, but she had to have been one of the most beautiful women who has ever existed. It's not just her looks, though, it's her presence, too. During the scene in the club where she's walking slowly and looking around, i wasn't able to pay attention to what was going on in the scene. Her presence just overwhelms the whole rest of the movie. Like i said, Egyptian vampires = cool.
Speaking of Egyptian: I decided that since i'd finished the last book i was reading, that i'd start reading the Book of the Dead again.
Reading the Book of the Dead, watching an Anne Rice movie, talking about how beautiful a dead girl is... How friggin' Goth is that?
