I went to get glasses today.
We couldn't find the place at first, because:
A) MapQuest told us to turn right, when we needed to go left.
B) It was hidden inside a mall. I was expecting it to be in a strip mall or its own building.
After i called to ask where they were, we found it very easily.
My appointment (that i got online) was for 2:15pm, but when i got there, the woman behind the counter said the doctor was always at lunch until 3. She rescheduled me, and Erica and i went off to look around the mall until 3. Of course, i bee-lined to Kay-Bee and looked around for a bit. Then Erica suggested we get some food. There was a Subway in the mall, and i've been wanting Subway for ages, so we ate there. Yummy. Roast beef with swiss cheese on wheat, with Sun Chips and a Mountain Dew...
Afterwards, we went back to the glasses place, and i saw the doctor (who i didn't know was the doctor at the time) saying he was going to get a haircut. o.O I went to the counter, and the woman gave me my paperwork to fill out. I filled it out and returned it to.. some guy, who told me it would be a bit before i'd be examined because there was "a delay". Yeah, haircut, delay, whatever... So i wait a bit, read my book, look at frames... I get called in, examined... The doctor spent a really long time looking in my left eye, which worried me, because a few years ago i had a problem that made the optic nerve in that eye to swell, causing me to see purple spots. I was scared that something had come back, or that he'd had noticed something left over from that. Well, he told me my eyes looked good, and that my new glasses would definitely help me see better. :) Went out, picked out two nice-looking sets of frames, and paid. They told me my glasses would be ready in a week. Yay. :) From the time we went back in, and the time we left, was only an hour.
When i go to pick up my glasses, i want to go to the arcade in the mall. I haven't been in an arcade for more than a few minutes in years.
I was a bit proud of myself today that i called to get directions, and handled everything at the glasses place, with people behind the counter and the doctor, on my own, and fairly competently, without being nervous, or feeling like a little kid in front of authority figures. This, for me who is painfully shy, is a bit unusual. I manage, but when i do have to deal with others like that, i usually am a tiny bit nervous, even in like the checkout line of stores and stuff. Today i didn't feel that. I asked what i needed to, and did what i needed to, and didn't feel funny about it. Very cool. :)
We went out to eat before we came home. I got a small steak, a sweet potato, a little bowl of chili, and this local soda called Cheerwine, which was better than i remembered it being. I was too full for dessert.
We came home, and i'm tired for some reason, but i was even more tired then. I way laying down, ready to doze a little, when Erica came in. I had a message from Toys 'R' Us. The woman on the phone wanted to "ask me a few questions" and talk to me about an interview next week. I was home too late to call her back today (i tried; she wasn't there anymore), but i was told she'd be in Monday. So i'll call then. :)
And not that it means anything to anyone reading this, but in the Frontiers MUD i play, i was elected Ruler of the city of Faiellor by the other citizens of the city. I'm surprised i won, really. i was expecting my friend (whose character is) Mika to win. I feel special. :)
I think that's about all i have to say right now. Time to relax and do some things i enjoy. :)
I'm in need of something...
Gimme.
