Apr. 10th, 2007 02:54 amEaster had its ups and downs.
Ups:
Had a nice meal with the family: lamb, twice-baked potatoes, green bean casserole, cheese biscuits, deviled eggs, iced tea, root beer, cake, and lots of candy. I had the some of the best jelly beans ever.
Downs:
I fire up iTunes to listen to some music and my library is gone. And by "my library" i mean all my songs, and the like fifty playlists i had for various albums, moods, highest-rated, etc. Also my play count and last-played info is erased, too. Then i realize when i click a menu, any menu (as i did to try to find my old library to import), iTunes would completely crash. So after a reinstall, an upgrade, an unintstall, and another install, it still crashed every time. I decide to see if going back to a restore point would fix it... when i discover my System Restore is gone. Just... gone. ::sigh::
I go searching on the web. Miraculously, it's not too terribly difficult to reinstall System Restore, just finding an .ini, installing it, finding some backup files, blah blah, which i do. Doesn't help my iTunes problem, since all previous restore points are hosed due to the reinstallation, and it seems, according to Event Viewer, that System Restore hasn't worked since the beginning of the year, anyway.
SO. Now that nothing has helped, i suddenly get brilliant and think "Oh, um, i should have tried uninstalling plugins first to see if they were the problem..." Uninstall the G-Force visualiation, uninstall iScrobbler, and unistall AMIP, the plugin that lets me annoy people on IRC by displaying what song i'm currently listening to.
ITunes works. o.o
In searching for a new version of AMIP, i see it has a bug that, if your playlist is deleted, it crashes iTunes. WHEE. So, i add some songs to my playlist, reinstall iScrobbler and AMIP. ITunes works fine. No library, but working.
SO^2. After a couple hours of that, i get to restoring my library for the rest of the night. ::sigh^2:: Needless to say, i don't have any of my playlists. Thankfully, tonight i remembered that i DID, in an odd roundabout way, have a list of my top-rated songs up to a point. So i was able to restore that pretty much. I guess if anything, going through all that got my System Restore, erm, restored, and my iTunes library and playlists substantially cleaned up. Guess it wasn't a total waste of time. And now i know to export my library occasionally in case it happens again.
Meh.
(Crayon) Shin-Chan started showing on Cartoon Network again. (Actually, it's about to repeat as i type this.) It's one of my favorite shows. So insanely hilarious, like The Sifl & Olly Show, and Super Milk-Chan. I love it. It seems like there are a lot of episodes out there, so hopefully it will be on a while. It's on Monday through Thursday, so i have a lot of Shin-Chan to watch. Nice. It makes me ass-dance in Aisle Five.
AND, the video i posted on YouTube that i keep harping about?
Honors for This Video:
#9 - Most Viewed (This Month) - Music - Japanese
#69 - Top Rated (This Month) - Music - All
#5 - Top Rated (This Month) - Japanese
#2 - Top Rated (This Month) - Music - Japanese
#18 - Top Rated (All Time) - Music - Japanese
#1 - Most Discussed (This Month) - Music - Japanese
#62 - Top Favorites (This Month) - Music - All
#3 - Top Favorites (This Month) - Japanese
#1 - Top Favorites (This Month) - Music - Japanese
That's two number ones, a number two, a number three... a number eighteen of all time... It's even in the charts for all music, not just Japanese. Now, YouTube isn't a tiny place on the web; i hear it mentioned on tv and stuff all the time... To have a video i posted be the top on some of the "charts" there kinda makes me proud. Most stuff i do on the web is completely ignored. ;P I'm glad people like that song and video. It's nice to be able to share.
Anyway, i think i'm going to reboot, then listen to some music and MUD for a while. Later, bzz-zzt!
