Things to say.
May. 24th, 2002 05:07 amI have this game called Grandia II for the DreamCast, an RPG of the best kind. It's loads of fun, really. But sometimes there are literally *HOURS* between save spots. I'm playing as i type this, because i want to quit, get NeoPets played, and go to bed. But i can't quit, because i can't get to a save spot yet, and it's been an hour since the last one. Either i keep playing for who knows how much longer, or i quit now and lose an hour's progress..... (Literally 20 minutes after beginning writing this, i found a save spot. Whew.)
I had a weird... thought tonight. See, i used to aspire to be a comic book artist. I almost was in fact. I would have been, had the company i'd tentatively have been working for had not just... not happened. I'd kinda.. not thought about doing that in a while. I never felt i had the ability, really. Tonight, suddenly, i got the idea: I'm going to get some decent-quality paper, of the correct size, spend some time drawing a sample of my work, work at it until i get it right (i mean *REALLY* work on it), print up copies of it, and send it to every comic book editor i can find mailing info for. I used to go to comic shows and show guys my work all the time. A bunch of them said i had talent, and as i said, a couple of guys wanted me to work for them. Now, it's possible that some of these pros were humoring me, and just being encouraging, but those couple of guys were wanting to start a comic business, and they wanted me to do something for them. It never actually happened, but that's got to mean something, especially considering this was like eight years ago.... My style and ability have improved a ton since then, so i think i could have a chance now. I'll never know if i don't at least try by sending my stuff out there. I might get lots of rejection letters, but i only need one approval letter, right? It would be my dream job to draw for money, and it's something that can be done from anywhere. Good deal, huh?
I have a really good feeling about this. Wish me luck.
